2nd Inniskillings depart South Africa for Egypt

At war's end the 2nd Battalion The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers moved from Vereeniging to arrive at Mafeking on 21 August 1902 and then Potchefstroom where they arrived on 7 April 1903. The Battalion's last move in South Africa was to Durban where it embarked on the transport ship Dunera on 24 October for Egypt, arriving in Citadel Barracks, Cairo on 9 November 1903.

There, the 2nd Inniskillings received new Colours from the then Prince of Wales and supplied detachments to Crete and Cyprus. The Battalion did not return home until it left Egypt on 1 January 1908, and, after some nineteen years of foreign service, landed at Portsmouth on 14 January 1908, arriving the following day at Portobello* Barracks, Dublin.
