Austria-Hungary Armistice signed
Austria-Hungary was one of the Central Powers (or Quadruple Alliance) during the First World War and had declared war on the Kingdom of Serbia on 28 July 1914, an event which marked the beginning of 'The Great War'. On 3 November 1918, representatives of Austria-Hungary, one of the Central Powers, signed the Armistice of Villa Giusti in Madria (near Padua in the Veneto), thus agreeing to the cessation of hostilities against Italy and other Allied Powers on the Italian Front. The armistice came into effect 24 hours later on 4 November 1918.
