The Williamite War In Ireland, the War of the Two Kings.

Colonel Zachariah Tiffin's Inniskilliners joined the 73 year-old Duke of Schomberg and his force at Loughbrickland on 2 September 1689, before marching south to Newry and Dundalk.

The Chaplain of the English Army described the arrival of the various Inniskillings thus;

'... some on high horses, some on small, some furnished out with a very fair imitation of a regular trooper's equipment, others with nothing military but their arms; some had holsters, while others carried pistols stuck into their belts and the majority of the privates had their servants riding behind them on small country ponies'.
