Op FIRIC - A Coy 1 R IRISH

From July to September 2014 (the UK summer but Falkland winter) A Company of the 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment deployed to the Falkland Islands on Operation FIRIC as the Roulement Infantry Company.

The Company came under command of a Joint 1 Star (eg, a Brigadier) Headquarters that provided both a credible deterrence to foreign aggression and reassurance to the local population. A Company was the principal land element on the Island.

The Company picked up operational tasks in support of the mission including the maintenance of a Quick Reaction Force and Falkland wide patrols (right), as well as supporting other critical exercises designed to test the military capability of the Island.
