The Queen meets Brian Boru |
The Bands, Bugles, Pipes and Drums, and the dancers of The Royal Irish Rangers made their first appearance at the Royal Tournament at Earls Court in London from 11 - 28 July 1973.
The salute at the afternoon performance on Wednesday 25 July, was taken by Her Majesty The Queen, who after the performance met those who had taken part. This was one of the first appearances of the Regimental Mascot 'Brian Boru'. The team of Irish Dancers were drawn from both the 1st and 2nd Battalion and from volunteers of the Womens Royal Army Corps (WRAC). The bands were under the direction of Bandmasters WO1 A W Healey and WO I C Pearce.
